Bone Biomechanics Lab

We study how and why bones break in different clinical conditions such as aging, osteoporosis, and diabetes. Currently, our goal is to understand why diabetics break their bones so easily. The exact cause is unknown, but we believe they have very poor bone quality that makes their bones weak. If we can get a better understanding of how bone quality changes in diabetics, then the bone research community will have a great place to start in designing tools to predict fracture risk early and in developing treatments to help patients. #FracturesArentHip #WhyIStudyBone #BoneScience
